I've been photographing newborns for clients since 2017, but I have been seeing and appreciating a trend toward a more relaxed newborn portrait session. As much as I LOVE a posed newborn session, I also want to offer a session that has less posing and more cuddling. I want to help facilitate comfortable (and photogenic!) interactions with your family to capture for your memories. So how does this differ from my "normal" posed newborn session?

  • Poses in a relaxed newborn session may look a lot like how your baby could be found at home. We won't use poses that require composite edits. Think: comfy and real life posing
  • Will I use props in a relaxed newborn session? Possibly a basket, bucket or tiny baby bed and definitely lots of cozy fabrics. Baby will be posed in your arms and hands for the majority of the session.
  • Will baby be naked or clothed? In a relaxed session, baby will always have a diaper on and may be wrapped or clothed in an outfit from my studio. In a posed session, baby will have the same as a relaxed session but may also have some posed photos while naked.
  • In a posed newborn session, most of the individual photos of baby will not include anyone else. In a relaxed newborn session, we will get less photos of baby alone but focus more on interactions with baby and amongst your other family members.
