I'm Heather - the girl behind the lens! I've always been interested in photography, beginning in grade school with those disposable film cameras, to working for school and local newspapers, and finally being revived when I had my first baby. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Austin. We live in rural Albion, Illinois with our 4 beautiful daughters and one son, born in August 2022.
I began this photography business in February 2017. I chose to quit my job as a CPA when we began having children in 2012 and become a full time mama. After a few years, a few kids and a couple part time, work from home jobs, I found myself needing the ability to stretch my creative muscles. I returned to my love of photography and began seeking more practice to grow my photography skills. I was looking to photograph families and other children and I was pleased to do it as a hobby for family and friends, but no one wanted to "bother" me with it. They thought I was too busy keeping up with our, at the time, three daughters. What they didn't understand is that photography is a creative outlet for me. While I love my kids and being able to be with them all day, every day, I needed something for me. Something to make me feel like more than a bottom wiper, referee, and storyteller.
I am blessed to get to stay home with our children and homeschool them when I am not on a photo shoot. It's not uncommon for me to be editing photos while diffusing arguments in the other room and bouncing a fussy baby. My husband is a self-employed farmer, which means I am the CFO of that operation as well.
I want to say thanks for stopping by my site and considering me for your photography needs. I have been blessed with incredibly supportive people in my life and my client base is one of those. Without you valuing my work and asking me to capture your memories in photos, I wouldn't get to do this thing that I love! Thank you!
